The start of the first game of the elite eight has begun and question of who will advance to the final four will be answered soon. The first half saw Gonzaga take a ten-point lead behind a barrage of three balls and Xavier turnovers but this team is in it to win and Xavier fights back within four but the punishing threes continue from Gonzaga. NEW YORK – A strong second half allowed the seventh-seeded Xavier Musketeers to pull away from No. 10 seed DePaul in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament. The Musketeers had three double-digit efforts to help Xavier, now 20-12 on the season, advance to the quarterfinals to face off with Butler.

CINCINNATI – Xavier, 19-12 overall and 9-9 in the BIG EAST Conference, is the No. 7 seed in this week’s BIG EAST Tournament. The Musketeers play No. 10 seed DePaul on Wednesday. The game will be broadcasted on FS1 and 700 WLW-AM.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – For a second-straight season, Xavier men’s basketball returns home from Orlando with a championship trophy after topping Northern Iowa, 67-59, in the championship game of the Tire Pros Invitational at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Sunday evening.Three Musketeers hit double figures as No. 11 Xavier moved to 5-0 on the season.

WITH AN 83 – 77 WIN OVER CLEMSON
Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Xavier advances to the finals of the Tire Pro Invitational and will face Northern Iowa Sunday at 7:30 for the Championship, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The game will be aired on ESPN2 at 7:30 P.M.
No. 11 Xavier shot 52 % from the floor and 43% from 3-point range to advance their record to 4-0 for the season.
Scoring was lead by J.P. Macura #55 with 28 points. He scored 3-3’s in the first 7 minutes of the game which lead him to a career high 28. Macura shot perfect 2-2 from the free throw line to give him 8-8 for the tournament and 20 for 20 for the season. The other players to score in double figures were Sean O’Mara with 10, Edmond Sumner with 11 and Trevon Bluiett with 21.
Xavier lead Clemson by 9 at the half with 10 turnovers and 14 points in the paint. In the 2nd half after leading by as many as 12, Clemson chiseled the lead down to 4 with 2 free throws by Marcquise Reed at the 7 second mark. The clock was stopped by Gabe DeVOE’s foul, with Bluiett’s 2 free throws the game ended 83-77.
Currently for the tournament O’Mara dominates the team with an 81.8% shooting percentage (9-11). He is also shooting 81%
from the line.
J.P. Macura is walking away from his team mates playing 40 minutes per game with an average of 23.5 points and a perfect 8-8 from the line.
Clemson 3-1 fell short with all 5 of its starters scoring in double figures. They were led by Donte Grantham with 21, Blossomgate 13, Djitte 11, DeVoe16, and Holmes 12.

Xavier Falls to Wisconsin on Buzzer Beater in NCAA Second Round
- ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A shot at buzzer ended the season for the No. 2 seed Xavier in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night, as seventh-seeded Wisconsin came away with the 66-63 win. Xavier finishes the season 28-6 overall.

Sumner’s Career High Leads Musketeers to Win at Georgetown
WASHINGTON – A career day for Edmond Sumner led No. 8/7 Xavier men’s basketball to an 88-70 win at Georgetown on Saturday, avenging a January home loss against the Hoyas. The Musketeers shot over 80 percent from the floor for the second half as they moved to 24-3 on the season and 12-3 in BIG EAST play.
