No. 11 Xavier shot 52 % from the floor and 43% from 3-point range to advance their record to 4-0 for the season.
Scoring was lead by J.P. Macura #55 with 28 points. He scored 3-3’s in the first 7 minutes of the game which lead him to a career high 28. Macura shot perfect 2-2 from the free throw line to give him 8-8 for the tournament and 20 for 20 for the season. The other players to score in double figures were Sean O’Mara with 10, Edmond Sumner with 11 and Trevon Bluiett with 21.
Xavier lead Clemson by 9 at the half with 10 turnovers and 14 points in the paint. In the 2nd half after leading by as many as 12, Clemson chiseled the lead down to 4 with 2 free throws by Marcquise Reed at the 7 second mark. The clock was stopped by Gabe DeVOE’s foul, with Bluiett’s 2 free throws the game ended 83-77.
Currently for the tournament O’Mara dominates the team with an 81.8% shooting percentage (9-11). He is also shooting 81%
from the line.
J.P. Macura is walking away from his team mates playing 40 minutes per game with an average of 23.5 points and a perfect 8-8 from the line.
Clemson 3-1 fell short with all 5 of its starters scoring in double figures. They were led by Donte Grantham with 21, Blossomgate 13, Djitte 11, DeVoe16, and Holmes 12.
